Time to Worship (Week 3 Monday)

We had three guests over today so our church service started kinda late.  First my sister came bearing gifts and then Jack Bauer took up the 9PM time slot with 24.  But we did have church, it started around 10ish along with a friend from church.

We started with “How Great Thou Art

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

We continued reading from Revelation 2 where Christ is addressing sins within the church and how he calls them to repentence.  After looking at the early church in Revelation, we considered our current situation and at our church.  It was a call for corporate and individual repentence.  The sins as mentioned to the different churches could very well apply to us today.  We forget Christ and we forget our first love as mentioned yesterday.  We also are led astray from false teachers and tempted with many things.  What sins do our church need to repent of?  How will this type of repentence look like (on the corporate and individual levels)?

Christ calls us to repent and to remain in him to the end.  It is only with our union with Christ that we are able to endure to the end.  We sang the second verse again.  Remembering that it was the finished work of Christ on the cross that took away our sins and that is where our faith is in.
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:

We prayed together and concluded with a benediction and doxology.
